Date Ideas

Date Ideas

Whether it’s a date with your significant other, your bestie or mom, I’ve put together some of my favorite date ideas that are sure to be a good time!

Cooking: Take a cooking class together and learn some new skills. If you’re on a budget, find a new recipe online or make some homemade pizzas!

Sweet Treat: Get out of the house and grab a dessert somewhere (even your local fro-yo shop).

Spa: Whether you’re booking a service at your local spa or doing at-home pedicures and face masks, it’s always nice to indulge in a little self-care with a loved one!

Fitness Class: Check your local fitness or yoga studio’s schedule and find a class! It’s always fun to take a class with someone else.

Tasting: From tea to beer or wine, there’s so many tasting events out there! You can even make your own at-home tasting flights. Branch out and try something new!

Movie/Theatre: When’s the last time you went to the movies or went to see a play/musical? If you’re looking for a movie night in, pop to popcorn and pour the wine!

Other date ideas:

  • Farmers market/local fests
  • Art shows/sculpture parks
  • Mini golf
  • Hiking
  • Museum
  • Arcade/bowling/bocce
  • Sports game
  • Laser tag
  • Comedy show
  • Volunteer
  • Picnic
  • Paint/wine event
  • Dance lessons
  • Tour (food tours, boat tours, walking tours etc.)
  • Visit a park or botanical garden
  • Paddle boat, canoe, kayak or stand up paddle boarding

Have fun and happy planning!

T-Shirt Versatility

T-Shirt Versatility

When it comes to shopping, who else likes to feel good about their purchases? I know I do. When deciding if I should buy something apparel related, I ask myself if it’s an item I already own and if so, how can I get the most use out of it and how is it different than what I already have?

Sometimes that’s a hard question to ask myself because the result usually ends in me not being able to justify the purchase. However, when it comes to t-shirts, I seem to always find a way to justify the purchase ;). Mainly because graphic t-shirts are so different, unique and versatile!

I’m sharing some of my favorite Tees and how I like to style them for different occasions:

Pair with jeans: a simple and easy way to pair your t-shirt is with a pair of jeans. I was dressing up a causal date night outfit and threw on some jewelry, a fedora and a pair of sandals. Cute for dinner and comfy for a movie or a stroll along the river!

Shoes: YAS Elegance Boutique

Pair with shorts: when the weather is in the upper 90s and your clothes are sticking to you, comfort is key (while still being stylish, of course). I love that this t-shirt isn’t like any others I own. Aside from having a 90s pop icon printed on the shirt, I like the rolled sleeves and cut outs at the bottom. This was a causal outfit I wore to brunch but it can easily be worn with some skinny jeans, heels and a leather jacket for a ‘cool’ vibe (maybe even throw on a mood ring, tattoo choker necklace and rock out to “Baby One More Time” to fully relive the 90s dream).

Pair with yoga pants: I call this my “getting stuff done look”. As I mentioned before, comfort is a priority for me. After all, I need to be comfortable when sippin’ on a mimosa ;). But really, I wear a lot of yoga clothes whether I’m practicing, teaching or running errands in them. The staff at Joriki suggested I tie a knot in my “Look Forward Give Back” shirt to give it more of a fitted and chic look if I’m wearing it out and about. It’s safe to say I always tie this shirt up and I have it in every color available.

Pair with a skirt: I love a good skirt and t-shirt combo. It easily elevates a t-shirt and makes it appropriate for a dressier occasion. Add some heels and a blazer for the complete work outfit!

Skirt: Express

Shoes: Macy’s

Pair with a cardigan: You can never go wrong with throwing a blazer or cardigan over a t-shirt. On days when I’m feeling more casual, I opt for a solid color cardigan. If I’m feeling like kicking it up a notch, I’ll opt for a a dressier cardigan or blazer.

July Intentions

July Intentions

The other year I started setting intentions rather than New Year resolutions as a way to evaluate things I wanted to work on and change in my life. A few months ago while scrolling through Instagram, I saw someone post their intentions for the month. I loved this idea because our personal goals, mantras or things we are working on change month to month (sometimes even day to day). This is something I’m starting to incorporate into my life and invite you to do the same!

I’m sharing a few of my intentions for July:

  • Get my body moving everyday (morning and nighttime stretching)
  • Clean and get rid of things I no longer need
  • Read a book I’ve been wanting to read
  • Try new recipes
  • Show gratitude for loved ones and kindness to strangers
  • Be more present in the moment
  • Take more time to listen

What intentions are you setting this month?

Easy Snack Ideas

Easy Snack Ideas

Anyone else a big snacker? I love a good meal but I also love to snack throughout the day. I tend to crave salty and sweet, which gets me in trouble when I have cookies or chips around 😉. I’ve put together a few of my favorite delicious and easy snacks. I hope you enjoy!

Rice Cakes + Tea: Quaker Oat’s Gluten Free rice cake topped with Justin’s Honey Peanut Butter, banana slices and sprinkled with Safe + Fair’s Chocolate Granola. I paired this with Adagio’s Peach Oolong and added in a splash of lemon ginger juice that I get from my local yoga studio.

Coco Whip + Berries: So Delicious’ Dairy Free coconut whipped topping paired with fresh berries is a great snack and dessert!

Banana Logs: I’m sure you’ve heard of the kid snack known as ants on a log (which is still delicious to eat as an adult in case you were wondering). I’ve made my own twist on the snack and call them ‘Banana Logs’. I thinly slice a banana and spread Justin’s Peanut Butter. Top with whatever you’re in the mood for: chia seeds, granola, chocolate, fruit, etc.

Happy snacking!

Small Changes to Relieve Daily Stress

Small Changes to Relieve Daily Stress

Ever have those days that seem like you just can’t catch a break? You wake up feeling rushed and are in a hurry to get to your destination on time. I’m sharing a few tips to help relieve unnecessary stress (let’s face it, we can all shed some stress from our lives).

  1. Pick out your outfit the night before work. This is a big one for me! I feel more put-together when my outfit is picked out and I can get ready in the morning with ease.
  2. Unplug before bed. Give yourself 30 minutes to an hour before bed to stop scrolling through social media and let your mind (and eyes) rest before sleeping.
  3. Spend 5 minutes in the morning to yourself. Set your alarm clock 5 minutes earlier and be still. I like to sit in the dark with my oil diffuser on and enjoy the quietness before starting my day. It’s also a great time to meditate or get in some stretching.
  4. Breathing exercises. Spend time throughout your day taking deep breaths. Set reminders on your phone to take deep breaths (I like to count to 4 on my inhalations & exhalations). Release your tongue from the roof of your mouth. Relax your shoulders away from your ears. Unclench your jaw. Just let go of tension in your body.
  5. Drink water. Staying hydrated can keep your stress levels down. Enough said.
  6. Get your body moving. Get up and stretch, go for a walk or workout. Do something to clear your mind and get any built up tension out.

CBD

CBD

I’m sure you’ve heard about the many benefits of CBD and how it’s being used to treat pain relief and reduce stress/anxiety. I’ve been using CBD products for the past few months and am so excited to share my top picks with you guys! I’m a huge advocate in only sharing my favorite products that have actually worked for me.

So here they are:

Meraki CBD Oil

I’ve been using the Meraki CBD oil before I sleep to help me relax and get a more restful sleep. I place 2-3 drops under my tongue before bed. Another great way to use the oil is to add it into your smoothies or tea. Another win: it has peppermint oil added so it doesn’t leave a weird aftertaste!

Meraki CBD Pain Cream

I use the CBD Pain Cream to help with muscle soreness and inflammation reduction. It’s perfect for those days when you wake up with neck pain or are sore from a good workout (or just slept wrong).

10th Avenue Tea Lemon Matcha + Hemp CBD

A great way to kick start your day? Matcha + CBD! 10th Avenue Tea has a yummy Lemon Matcha Tea Powder with CBD. You can make this either a hot or cold beverage. I love the on-the-go packets because you can travel with them and add them directly to a water bottle. I add ice cubes and a fresh lemon wedge to mine.

The ingredients list is short and simple: Organic lemon juice, organic green tea, organic monk fruit extract and CBD-rich hemp extract

Allergy-Friendly and Delicious!

Allergy-Friendly and Delicious!

Safe + Fair is changing up the food game and I’m here for it. They create allergy-friendly foods at affordable prices (thank goodness) AND they donate 3% of sales to Stanford’s Allergy & Asthma research center.

Why I love them: Their snacks are delicious and affordable, they give back (always a huge win in my book) and have a variety of products (I need options people). Safe + Fair’s snacks are non-GMO and use real ingredients (yes, you can actually understand the ingredients on the label).

What exactly does Allergy-Friendly snacks mean? All of their products are nut-free. Each of their products are clearly labeled with a “free from” ingredients list so you know exactly what you’re consuming. Another thing to note: everything is made in a facility free from the allergens (I know nut free is a big one for people).

Do they actually taste good? YES! The snacks are delicious and I’ve been following the allergy-friendly recipes for the brownies. If you would like, you can use the regular recipe with eggs, milk, etc.

Sounds great, can I get a discount? YES! Safe + Fair is giving my readers 20% off with promo code GEENI20 AND right now they’re offering free shipping! Check out their goodies here.
