Fall Favorites

Fall Favorites

Happy fall to all of you who love this time of the year! I am personally a summer gal, but I’ll take the Midwest fall scenery and fashion if I have to. In fact, I’m sharing some of my favorite fall pieces below!

Over sized off-the-shoulder sweaters

Muted neutrals

Duster cardigans

Chunky cardigans (because they’re comfy and can easily be thrown over a cami or tee)

Tall boots (I mean… isn’t fall about wearing leggings and tall boots? )

Scarves (so you can obviously hide the fact that you’re wearing a sports bra)

Layers on layers (because you end up taking them off and putting them back on as the temperature fluctuates)

What’s your favorite fall fashion piece?

Happy fall!

XOXO,

My Trader Joe’s Picks

My Trader Joe’s Picks

I honestly love Trader Joe’s because they have unique items that you can’t find at your typical grocery store. I shared a few of my favorite items on Instagram and received some DMs asking for more recommendations, so I put together a list of my current “must-have” items.
1. Cauliflower Gnocchi I feel like everyone is talking about TJ’s cauliflower gnocchi right now but it really is as amazing as people say! I cooked mine in a saucepan with water over the stove and added olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic, cheese and asparagus. I can’t say enough good things about it!
**Current Favorite**
2. Shells with Brie and Asparagus– Trader Joe’s frozen meals are always a win for me. I like to try new ones every so often because they’re usually delicious and good if you’re on the go. Other than TJ’s, I rarely buy frozen meals at the grocery store.
3. Riced Vegetable Medley- This is a really great side dish that is quick and easy (just add a little EVOO and seasoning if you like).
4. Blueberry Lavender Almond Beverage This beverage tastes exactly like a blueberry muffin and I’m here for it. I use this flavored almond milk in my coffee, hot chocolate, and event tea lattes. I haven’t tried it yet, but I want to use it in a blueberry muffin recipe.
Other items I usually pick up each TJ’s trip but not pictured:
*Teeny Tiny Avocados
*Organic Lemons Bag
*Mahi Mahi Burgers
*Strawberry Probiotic Yogurt
*Argentinian Red Shrimp
*Asparagus Risotto
Head to Trader Joe’s to check out these products for yourself. Let me know your recommendations below!

Last Minute Holiday Gift Guide

Last Minute Holiday Gift Guide

I am writing this holiday gift guide blog post a little late, well because I haven’t finished my holiday shopping either. However, I do have some gift ideas that you can pick up just in time for the holidays.
1. Insulated Water Bottle
We all know this is the gift that is suitable for pretty much everyone. Between drinking water at home, the gym and the office, S’well bottles can do the trick for even the toughest person on your gift list!
2. Jewelry
Of course we all know everyone loves jewelry. You can really never go wrong with a trendy or classic piece. I suggest checking out adorable and dainty pieces from Chicago based jewelry designer, Landon Lacey. They even have a Last Chance holiday sale going on (for us last minute shoppers) to take advantage of!
3. Essential Oil Patches
If you have any aromatherapy or essential oil lovers to buy for, these natural patches make the perfect stocking stuffer and can be paired with diffusers, oils, or salt lamps! Oh, and they’re on Amazon Prime so you will get them just in time 😉
4. Home Decor
If you are attending a holiday party and are looking for something to bring the host/hostess, you can never go wrong with a home decor piece (candles, decorative pillow, coasters, etc.). These also make great gifts for the new home owner/renter, newlyweds or people that love to decorate! Some of my favorite places to go for home decorations are HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Burlington and Ross.
Happy Holidays!

There are SO many reasons why I love the Athleta brand and their clothing:
• Comfortable and versatile clothing

• Campaigns geared towards empowering women and girls #powerofshe
• Certified B Corporation

Fashion Fixer Upper

Fashion Fixer Upper

Some people like to spend their days watching people flip homes on TV, I like to spend mine by shopping and flipping clothes. Just give me my own TV show and call it The Fashion Fixer Upper. I love a good bargain, but also enjoy having unique clothing pieces. I haven’t always been a huge fan of online shopping, but when I learned about Shoptiques, a website that sells clothing from different boutiques around the world, I had to give it a try!

I came across a very interesting denim patchwork dress for only $3.00 (see below)! There was something about this piece that really intrigued me. I wanted to purchase it so I could fix it up and style it to be more flattering to me and my body. This is something I’ve always done since I was a little girl. I would by the fashion pieces that were left over on the sale rack and would challenge myself to style and bring them to life in a new way. Something about this has always been fun to me.
In the next few pictures you will see how I styled and personalized this piece to make it more flattering to my body shape and personal style.

After:
The first thing I did when I received this dress was cut the three hanging fabric/ribbon pieces off on the side. Since this dress is one size fits all, it’s more of a looser fit (as seen in the original photo). I paired it with a belt and rolled up the sleeves to make it hug my figure more. I left the first few buttons undone and added my go-to favorite necklaces, a fun clutch, and velvet booties (of course).
This dress is my new favorite “fun” addition to my closet. I can’t wait to wear it again!
I encourage everyone to switch up their day-to-day fashion pieces by styling them differently or pairing with new accessories. You will see just how new you can make your clothes look! Maybe challenge yourself to hit the sale rack or a thrift store and see if you can “fix up” something to make it your own. Rock your new masterpiece and send me your pictures 🙂

Gina
